Pure fillers
Always counted, wherever they appear.
Discourse fillers
Counted only at the start of a clause or between pauses, so “I like pizza” is fine but “it was, like, huge” counts.
Weak words
Intensifiers that dilute your point.
Hedges
Phrases that make you sound unsure.
